Momentum Building for Our Mendez Partnership
Our Adoption of Irene K Mendez Elementary School is getting exciting! Thirty FPC Volunteers have now been trained on the Mendez Campus and fourteen of our Mentor/Tutors have been assigned a student! Meetings between our Mentor/Tutors and their students begin the week of September 19th. Specific assignments for the remaining sixteen FPC Mentor/Tutors and Volunteers will be finalized by the end of September.
Much volunteer work has already been underway on the Mendez Campus. One highlight has been our support of the Mendez PTO, with the goal of increasing parental involvement. Last year, there were two parents involved in the Mendez PTO. This year, helped by food and a raffle provided by FPC Volunteers, there were 40 people at the first PTO meeting!
