The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
The Salvation Army has been serving Texans since 1889. Perhaps the most noticeable part of their ministry is those red kettles and bell ringers standing outside of department stores during the Christmas season. Banking on the generosity of the season, these kettles support most of the what the local Salvation Army branch is able to do. Since 1891, bell ringers have been standing beside that red kettle to raise funds for their ministry.
Every year, our church rings that bell outside of local department store for two weeks. From age 3-101, members take two hour shifts to ring those bells to inspire compassion during the season of giving. This has become a long standing tradition for the church. Join us as we ring in the season!
